Wiggy Kit’s Guide to Effortless Spring Outfits

Luxury British fashion brand, Wiggy Kit, was founded by Wiggy Hindmarch ten years ago, and has built a reputation for offering effortless pieces that exude an easy elegance. Now, Wiggy has introduced her lastest line in the form of the Transitions Collection that channels a relaxed Americana feel for the incoming season, and to celebrate, the designer has offered her guide to spring dressing. As she says, “Early Spring can be notoriously hard when dressing in the mornings, as the mornings can be frosty and can then warm up as the day goes on. Layering correctly is key.” She continues, “When I see the spring bulbs blooming and the sun rising earlier, it certainly adds a sense of optimism to one’s dressing. After the dark Winter days, it once again feels as though it’s time to find that refreshed spring in your step.”

Spring Denim

Denim is workhorse to every girl’s wardrobe and forms. The bedrock to clever spring dressing to bridge the seasons. Fortunately, the color of indigo denim, whether a light, mid, or dark wash, works with everything, be it print, color, stripes or patterns. Always start with the basis of denim and work your outfit around it, and you can even add a print clash for a fun, sunny day look. Switch up denim shapes with our newest Forward Seam Jean that elongates the leg, or our barrel leg denim-tweed jeans (The Cuff Jean), which is a bit cropped to show off a great loafer. It’s a way to start introducing color and print whilst not overdoing it.

Accessorizing With Animals Prints

Leopard or cheetah (not python or zebra) is seen nowadays as a “new neutral” and especially when teamed with fresh spring colors, adds a certain unexpected juxtaposition to an outfit. A leopard shoe with military greens never fails to make the outfit instantly “up-styled”, for example our Lodge Jacket looks fabulous cinched with our leather cord belt, and also thrown over your shoulders for a look of casual insouciance.

Layer Up

Finding a good soft spring jacket that works over summer dresses is a game changer. It must be comfortable enough to almost be able to keep own in the house. We have a double breasted soft washed denim peacoat jacket called The Jax Jacket that does just this. It is easy to kill an outfit by just flinging on any old cardigan over the top. the sleeves need to be capacious enough to accommodate a dress sleeve and hit at the right height to not mess with the proportions of the dress. Tie our Neat Nora soft lambswool sweater around your shoulders or throw the Lodge Jacket over like an overshirt. You can even find a beaten-up oversized denims shirt to wear over a dress or tie up a white man’s shirt over the top and roll up the sleeve.

Good Hair And Glowing Skin

I can’t emphasise enough how important good hair is combined with good skin with a bit of bronze and warmth to the skin to set off your new spring wardrobe. With a more carefree attitude to the way you style everything up. Undoing another button, rolling up the sleeves, popping a collar, showing a bit more skin like wrists, ankles and décolletage. To create a lovely glow to the face I start by dotting a good concealer like Westman Atelier’s under the eye and over the lid sparingly, around the nose, between the brows and any discoloration around the chin and corners of the mouth and then using Ilia’s Sunshift luminous cream bronzer across the cheeks, forehead and lightly on the chin and eyes, curl your lashes and apply your favourite mascara, brush your brows up, ilia make a good nourishing lipgloss too. Blow dry your hair upside down and add a bit of a loose wave for a less polished look.

Color Pops And What Works Together

There are some great rules to make colors sing together. When planning a collection, we always think of how the colors work together.
