Inside the NBA‘s Ernie Johnson narrates the clip in support of the rap outfit’s upcoming farewell trek
The Wu-Tang Clan hit the floor at Madison Square Garden in a new trailer for their upcoming farewell tour.
The minute-long clip is narrated by Inside the NBA broadcaster Ernie Johnson, who delivers a performance packed with just the right amount of gravitas: “From the slums of Shaolin to the world stage, they have conquered, endured, and remained untouchable,” Johnson says, before listing off the members of the Wu-Tang Clan.
Accompanying Johnson’s narration is footage shot around the Wu-Tang Clan’s hometown of New York City, including the special “Wu-Tang Clan District” in Staten Island and a Brooklyn mural dedicated to late member Ol’ Dirty Bastard. The footage ends in Madison Square Garden, where RZA and Method Man hype up the tour and special guests Run the Jewels.
The “Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber” tour is set to kick off June 6 in Baltimore and wrap July 18 in Philadelphia. Tickets for all shows are on sale now.
All eight surviving members of the Wu-Tang Clan will partake in the tour: RZA, GZA, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, U-God, and Masta Killa. Longtime Wu-Tang affiliate Cappadonna will also tag along, while ODB’s son, Young Dirty Bastard, will stand-in for his late father.
In teasing the tour, RZA said the setlist will feature favorites from across the Wu-Tang catalog, including classics from their debut, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), and multi-platinum follow-up, Wu-Tang Forever. But the group also plans to pick out some deep cuts, including songs that have never been performed live.
