Kathy Burke has left fans feeling devastated and ‘beyond sad’ after it was announced that her popular podcast would be coming to an end.

The beloved actress and comic, 60, started Where There’s a Will, There’s a Wake in November 2022, basing each episode on the question: ‘If you could plan your perfect death, what would you do?’

Originally, Where There’s a Will, There’s a Wake was ‘only meant to [have] 20 episodes’ but its popularity meant that new ones kept being released until February 2025.

Over the course of more than 200 episodes, Kathy sat down with the likes of Rylan Clark, Bonnie Langford, Claudia Winkleman, Alan Carr, and many other famous faces.

But now, after running the show for more than two years, Kathy has decided to step down as host, with a replacement presenter set to be announced.

A statement published on social media read: ‘Queen Kath is hanging up her death cloak BUT Where There’s a Will, There’s a Wake WILL go on. In the meantime, you’ll get more Kathy with FREE 6FU (six feet under) eps in coming weeks.’

The episode’s description read: ‘It was only ever meant to be 20, but after 100 plus episodes, millions of downloads and a dead good live show, Kathy Burke is hanging up her death cloak and handing over the keys to the afterlife to another host.

‘She’s been the host with the most (swearing) and she’ll be so very missed, but the show will live on, and we can’t wait for the next chapter with you, our dedicated deathlings.’

The statement continued: ‘Don’t miss more Kathy as we’re giving you some of her 6FU (six feet under) episodes for free over the coming weeks.’

Elaine Carman said on X, ‘I’m beyond sad at this. Kathy is the best! You’ve kept me laughing and smiling since lockdown’ while @BarbaraBabds11 said losing the podcast was ‘just like an actual death’.

She said: ‘Thank you so much for all those episodes, Kathy – just like an actual death, having so many happy memories and laughs to look back in will be a great comfort. Looking forward to the next chapter.’

@MarieTurner131 said: ‘My favourite podcast! Gutted, but we all know Auntie Kath’s just too good to stand still for long. It’s been amazing! Excited to see who the new presenter is.’

And @RachLove31 added: ‘Oh no! Delighted the podcast is carrying on but Kathy my darling you will be dearly missed. One of the (very sweary) highlights of my week, thank you.’

Down the years, Kathy got some famous faces to reveal some of their darkest and most embarrassing secrets, including Emily Atack’s mum discovering her ‘massive’ dildo.

And she even got Piers Morgan to apologise for blocking her on X (Twitter at the time), with the controversial TV host and journalist calling himself ‘a woke snowflake’.
