Jets signing defensive end Rashad Weaver in NFL free agency

The Jets added some depth to their defensive line on Wednesday.

The team agreed to a deal with free agent defensive end Rashad Weaver, a source confirmed.

Weaver, 27, was a fourth-round pick of the Titans in 2021.

He spent three seasons in Tennessee before getting cut at the end of training camp last year.

He spent time with the Texans and Rams last year, mainly on the practice squad, but he did play in three games for Houston.

Weaver has appeared in 36 games in four years, with four starts.

He notched 5 ½ sacks in 2022 for the Titans but those are the only sacks of his career.

His playing time dropped from 58 percent of the defensive snaps in 2022 to 24 percent in 2023.

The Jets have Will McDonald and Jermaine Johnson, who is returning from a torn Achilles tendon, as starting edge rushers but need to add some depth to the position this offseason.
