The French media giant behind Peaky Blinders and Big Brother is working on a takeover bid for ITV.
Paris-based Banijay has reportedly held early stage talks with the broadcaster.
It is considering buying the whole company or just its production arm ITV Studios, which has made shows such as Mr Bates Vs The Post Office.
The division has already attracted takeover interest from London TV producer All3Media.
Analysts have said ITV Studios could be worth as much as £3billion on its own.
ITV and Banijay declined to comment.
