The boss of the Daily Express’s owner quit yesterday ahead of his move to run The Jockey Club.
Jim Mullen had been chief executive of Reach – which also owns the Daily Mirror and Daily Star – for six years.
He stepped down ‘by mutual agreement’ to head up the horse-racing company. Reach chief revenue officer Piers North will replace him, a company spokesman said.
Former Ladbrokes Coral boss Mullen will remain available for a short handover period before joining The Jockey Club on June 1.
Reach shares lost 6.1 per cent.
