Feral Deer Goes on Killing Spree

Disney’s beloved little deer is all grown up — and has gone absolutely feral.

That’s the immediate takeaway from the first trailer of “Bambi: The Reckoning,” the latest assault on both the senses and yet more cherished children’s IP from the creators of micro-budget smash hit slasher “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey.”

In this very twisted take on the Bambi story, our deer — now not simply grief-stricken over the death of his mother but also mutated, effing enormous and sporting an array of sharp, terrifying teeth — embarks on a deadly rampage through the woods seeking revenge. He throws cars into the air with his giant antlers, charges into otherwise lovely-looking country houses and chases after holidaying families in caravans. There’s a decapitation, several maulings and plenty of blood. In short, this it to be kept as far away from children as humanly possible.

Directed by Dan Allen, “Bambi: The Reckoning” stars Roxanne Mckee (“Game of Thrones,” “Hercules”), Tom Mulheron, Nicola Wright (“Sexy Beast”), Samira Mighty and Alex Cooke. The feature is being produced by Scott Chambers and Rhys-Frake Waterfield, the prolific filmmaking duo behind Jagged Edge Productions, which brought the world “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey,” 2024’s “Blood and Honey 2” as well as this year’s “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare” and have become renowned for their public domain horrorsploitations.

Indeed, after his standalone feature, Bambi will then join Jagged Edge’s low-budget horror crossover film “Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble” alongside Winnie, Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Tigger, Piglet, The Mad Hatter, Sleeping Beauty and more for an IP-bludgeoning frenzy that’s due to go into production this summer.

“Bambi: The Reckoning” is set to launch this summer, with ITN Studio releasing the film alongside Premiere Entertainment.
